Hoiio’s back as a partner of BattleHack 2015

battlehack

BattleHack 2015 is a series of global hackathon contests organized by PayPal and Braintree. Competitors are required to solve problems by coding. Winners will get various prizes, the top prize being the famous Battle Axe, the BattleHack trophy and flight and hotel stay to the World Finals (November 14th to 15th) in Silicon Valley, and a chance to win the grand prize of $100,000 USD! Other than that, there is also an XBox One and an Adafruit ARDX kit up for grabs!

BattleHack is quite unlike the usual hackathon contests. The hosts provide gourmet food, beer breaks and massage services during the hackathon!

Last year, the Battle Axe trophy went to Team TalkWithMe for their SmoothTalk app. The app incorporates a custom iOS keyboard which translates the input language into a desired language in real time, addressing the issue of multilingualism in Singapore.

Team FundForFun won the Hoiio category last year. Using Hoiio’s IVR API, Team FundForFun created an app that allowed the elderly to call to a number and share their dreams, which will then be submitted in the form of voice-recorded requests to the app platform. Users can then vote for their favourites and make donations through the app to fund the realisation of the elderly’s’ dreams.

More details on Hoiio’s involvement last year at BattleHack Singapore can be found here (https://blog.hoiio.com/2014/09/26/battlehack-2014-showcases-brilliant-coding-ideas/)

This year, Battlehack will be at hosted at Level 11, Finexis Building, 108 Robinson Road on Saturday, March 28 10:00AM till Sunday, March 29 5:00PM. Hoiio will be doing a short presentation during the BattleHack Singapore opening talks. Hoiio’s API services will surely be part of the hackathon this year.

More details can be found on Battlehack’s website (https://2015.battlehack.org/singapore)

This year’s BattleHack looks to be even more exciting than the one last year!
