How It All Begun
Hello and Welcome to our blog,
Teliwave, set up in Singapore on 18th April 2007, started as a company with the vision of providing innovative technologies that connect people. The early days were spent researching and developing several interesting projects that connect people differently – using our ingenuity, innovations and technologies.
One day in October 2007, one of the tertiary projects under our care – “MyHomeTone.com” caught our interest in particular. The project was originally initiated to provide budget international calls for foreign students on campus to stay in touch with their loved ones back home. The project was a hit with these students and we received many suggestions for improvement. We valued every constructive feedback and worked hard to make the necessary improvements to call quality, user experience and more importantly, call reliability. We were also proud to have successfully supported the widest range of mobile phones platform which remains as the forte of our solution today.
In April 2008, the improved version of MyHomeTone.com was ready to go beyond the campus grounds and it was reborn as Hoiio (pronounced ho-yo). Hoiio was officially launched to the wider Singapore market at CommunicAsia 2009, Asia’s largest ICT event in June 2009.
By early 2010, more people started to fall in love with Hoiio and active users were increasing rapidly. The media has also been supportive in their coverage and reviews of Hoiio. While the absolute number is still relatively small, we are cautiously optimistic as we have yet to launch Hoiio in the overseas markets.
On 1st April 2010, Teliwave is proud to announce the company’s new Vision and Mission statements. The new focus is very much Hoiio centric and it is only appropriate that we announce it first-hand on our new Blog.
The vision and mission are commitments that we have made to our users, partners and ourselves. Our value proposition is simple yet powerful: to make mobile communication cheaper, simpler and smarter for connecting people.
We are currently working to extend Hoiio’s products and services overseas to allow more people to enjoy the benefits.
So the next time you need to make a call, whether for Local, IDD or Roaming calls, remember that there is a smarter way to say ‘hello’. Consider Hoiio!
